Foligno had been on fire during Ottawa's red-hot run of late with six points in his last six games before getting hurt. Hold on to him in deeper leagues if you can afford to, but realize the Sens probably won't be as sizzling come early March.

| The Senators had a lot of expectations for left winger Nick Foligno as he entered his second NHL season in 2008-09. They really thought he could help shore up their top-six rotation and be a solid second-line left winger behind Dany Heatley. Foligno finally met those expectations late in the season, but generally disappointed for most of the year. Like many Senators, Foligno struggled under coach Craig Hartsburg. Once Cory Clouston took over behind the bench, many Ottawa players hit their stride, including Foligno. The 21-year-old and 2006 first-round pick (28th) had 11 goals and 19 points in his last 34 games. He had 17 goals, 32 points and a minus-10 rating in 81 contests for the year. His late-season push has given the Senators staff enough confidence that if Ottawa had to deal disgruntled forward Dany Heatley that Foligno has the skills to step onto the top line with Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson. Foligno is merely a low-end Fantasy forward Draft Day, but if the Heatley trade goes down, he definitely jumps up the list as a top sleeper candidate. (Updated 8/23/09) |
