Gilbert Makes Debut For Wild: Tom Gilbert, acquired in a deadline day deal with the Oilers, skated for 22:49 in Tuesday's loss to the Kings. It wasn't a good return to his home area for Gilbert or any of the Wild, as they were dominated in a 4-0 game. (Updated 02/29/2012)

Fantasy Analysis
Other than the loss, if there's one thing to be drawn it's Tom Gilbert's 3:18 of power play time, over a minute more than he's been averaging all season. The Wild only had three power plays, so the fact that he got that much PP time and saw the second most overall ice time on the team tells us he may have a pretty big role with his new squad. Just remember he's not much of a goal scorer, but there may be some assists to be had. (Updated 02/29/2012).

The trade deadline went by with a thud, so what does that mean in Fantasy? Evan Berofsky explains in his latest edition of Neutral Zone Wrap.
03/04/2012 21:40 McGinn scores twice in Avs' win
Jamie McGinn got his first career two-goal game just 8:25 into the night, giving the Colorado Avalanche all the scoring they needed in a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
Gilbert had a breakout season in 2007-08 with 13 goals and followed up with 40 assists the year after, but he has yet to come close to either number the past two seasons. Like so many of the Oilers, Gilbert seems to have stagnated in his progression. He is likely to anchor the Oilers second defensive pairing and still could see time on the power play as, outside of Ryan Whitney, the Oil don't have another offensively gifted d-man.
