Peverley nets short-handed score: Thrashers C Rich Peverley scored a goal, tallied an assist and finished at plus-1 during Friday's game against the Capitals. Capitals goalie Michal Neuvirth could do little about Peverley's short-handed goal in the third period. The puck was knocked in by Alexander Semin, who slipped while trailing the play. Peverley has 18 goals on the season, with two coming short-handed. (Updated 02/05/2010).

| Fantasy Analysis |
Peverley already has a career high in goals and is likely to set new marks in assists and points before it is all said and done. Peverley hasn't been as good as a multi-point threat over the last few months after opening with consecutive 13-point months. However, he is still no worse than a No. 5 or No. 6 Fantasy forward. (Updated 02/05/2010).

| Forward Rich Peverley was having a down season in Nashville by all accounts in 2008-09, posting only nine points in 27 games, not even playing every day. Peverley transformed into nearly a point-per-game player after he was acquired by the Thrashers, putting up 35 points in 39 games with Atlanta. He got off to a blazing start with Atlanta but did slow down some in the month of March. Playing alongside Ilya Kovalchuk certainly helped him put up big numbers with Atlanta and the amount of ice time the two spend together in 2009-10 could be a huge factor in determining Peverley’s Fantasy value. Peverley will be an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season and will have plenty of incentive to show potential offseason suitors that his breakout performance in the second half of last season wasn’t a fluke and he is a legitimate threat to put up 70-80 points over a full season. He is a nice sleeper option worth a flier in most Fantasy leagues. (Updated 8/18/09) |
