Johnson was great during the first two months of this season but then hit a wall to start December. We're not sure what his problem has been, but he's only worth starting in pretty deep leagues until he starts to find his offensive rhythm again.

Kesler, Luongo lead Canucks to longest winning streak since 2007
Vancouver defenseman Christian Ehrhoff scored a power-play goal from a sharp angle with 7:48 left to give the Canucks a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday.

| Erik Johnson carved out a piece of sports history in 2008 but one he probably isn't proud of. The Blues' defenseman endured one of the most freak non-hockey related injuries in sports history when he tore his ACL during a golf-cart accident at a team function last summer. The severe injury ended up costing Johnson, who was the No. 1 pick in 2006, the entire 2008-09 campaign. He has been rehabbing ever since having November surgery and will be ready for the start of the 2009-10 season. The 21-year-old defenseman had a solid rookie season in 2007-08. He posted 28 assists and 33 points in 69 games, despite the fact he dealt with a foot injury early in the season, and everyone in the Blues' organization was excited about his sophomore campaign. Johnson has solid offensive skills and definitely can be a viable Fantasy option. However, hockey players tend to struggle initially after returning from ACL surgery. Johnson is going to be more of an injury-risk Fantasy sleeper Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
