Kane has first goal in five games: Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane scored a goal and finished at plus-1 on Wednesday against the Blues. Kane scored on a breakaway, picking up the puck after a blocked shot by teammate Troy Brouwer and skating in to beat Chris Mason just 2:40 into the game. It was his 22nd goal and first score in five games. (Updated 02/03/2010).

| Fantasy Analysis |
Kane needs just four more scores to set a new career high and could get that before the Olympic break. He is playing better than a point-per-game and this is arguably been Kane's best stretch of hockey since entering the NHL in 2007-08. It's great to see Kane have so much success following a turbulent offseason. Keep him active in Fantasy. (Updated 02/03/2010).

| Hockey enthusiasts were eagerly awaiting Patrick Kane's encore in 2008-09 after the former No. 1 pick (2007) took home NHL Rookie of the Year honors in 2007-08. Unfortunately, he fell a bit short of expectations. Kane was on cruise control before an ankle injury in late December sidetracked him. The second-year forward posted 41 points (16 goals) in his first 34 games before his production took a nose dive. He showed his toughness by playing through the injury, but it clearly bothered him. Kane finished the regular season with just 29 points in his final 46 games. He finished with a career-high 25 goals and 13 power-play scores. His 70 points ranked second among Chicago skaters and 50 percent of his points came on the power play -- which tied him for 11th in the NHL. But there is a bit of good news for Fantasy owners. Kane made a strong push in the playoffs with nine goals and 14 points in 16 games as the Blackhawks made it all the way to the Western Conference finals. An offseason of rest should help him get back to full strength for the 2009-10 season. Kane should be drafted as no worse than a No. 3 Fantasy forward. He also has extra motivation heading into the final year of his entry-level contract. (Updated 8/17/09) |
