| Dan Boyle was looking forward to a fresh start with the Sharks in 2008-09 after being picked up in an offseason trade with the Lightning. Boyle was limited to just 37 games in 2007-08 because of a freak injury suffered when his skate fell out of his locker and sliced open his wrist. The move to San Jose also allowed Boyle to move from a last-place team to a Stanley Cup contender. He didn't let the opportunity go to waste as Boyle made his first All-Star appearance. He finished sixth among NHL defensemen in points (57), tied for fifth in goals (16), eighth in assists (41), tied for 12th in power-play goals (8) and tied for fourth in power-play points (32). Boyle kind of slowed down in the second half after posting 30 points (11 goals) in his first 36 games, but he still had a great season under first-year coach Todd McLellan. Boyle had 50 or more points in four of his last six seasons and is one of the top offensive blueliners in the NHL. Continue to draft him as a No. 1 Fantasy defenseman. (Updated 8/17/09) |
