Isles' Hickey Will Play Wednesday
Contrary to a prior report, Hickey (lower body) will play Wednesday against the Jets, Newsday reports.A bruised ankle, suffered in Saturday's loss to Philadelphia, will not keep Hickey from the ice Wednesday. It's big for the Islanders, who are already thin along the blue line, with Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) and Brian Strait (upper body) out of action.
Isles' Hickey Out Wednesday
Hickey (lower body) will not play Wednesday vs. the Jets. The Islanders reached the decision after Hickey was unable to take part in Wednesday's morning skate. The extent of Hickey's injury is still unclear, but Aaron Ness will take his spot in the lineup while he remains out of commission.
Isles' Hickey Leaves Game
Hickey suffered a lower body injury during the game Saturday and won't return, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple. The injury may have occurred after Hickey blocked a shot. No word yet on how long he may be out of the lineup for.
|Thomas Hickey is another one of general manager Garth Snow's reclamation projects. As the former fourth overall pick of the Kings in the 2007 draft, he was claimed off waivers before the start of last season. Although Hickey didn't produce much offensively (1g, 2a), the Islanders felt he showed enough to warrant a two-year contract this off-season. Bottom line is that he is a bottom-pair defenseman who has limited upside, something the Isles seem to be loaded with. (Updated 8/12/13) |
