| Fantasy Analysis |
Hiller has won four of his last five starts and five of seven. He hit his stride in the second half in 2008-09 and Hiller seems to be doing the same thing in 2009-10. He has re-emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Ducks TG is also a high-end option. (Updated 02/09/2010).

| Call him the savior. Call him the team MVP. Call Jonas Hiller whatever you please, but there is no denying his importance to the Ducks in 2008-09. While starter Jean-Sebastien Giguere struggled in net, Ducks coach Randy Carlyle turned to Hiller many times last season and the 27-year-old Swiss goalie responded by leading Anaheim all the way to the Western Conference semifinals. Hiller took over starting goalie duties down the stretch and posted a 8-2-0 record, 2.44 GAA and .919 save percentage in his last 12 games as Anaheim snuck into the playoffs. Hiller then was instrumental in a first-round upset of the top-seeded Sharks before falling in a seven-game semifinals battle with the Red Wings. Hiller was 7-6-0 with a 2.23 GAA, .943 save percentage and two shutouts in 13 postseason appearances after posting a 23-15-1 record, 2.39 GAA, .919 save percentage and four shutouts in 46 regular-season games. He tied for seventh among NHL goalies in GAA and tied for sixth in save percentage. Now, the Ducks have a goalie controversy on their hands. Both Hiller and Giguere are under contract in 2009-10. If neither of them are dealt prior to the season, coach Randy Carlyle could very well use both players in net -- which would be a frustrating situation for Fantasy owners. Hiller is looking more like a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy goalie until the situation is resolved in Anaheim. (Updated 8/17/09) |
