Niklas Backstrom had 37 saves for his third shutout of the season and 25th of his NHL career, and Greg Zanon scored in the Minnesota Wild's 1-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night.
Drafted in the seventh round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, McMillan is a physical forward who played in 78 games with AHL Houston in 2010-11, notching 12 goals, 10 assists, and 80 penalty minutes in the regular season. That same year he also had a short stint with the parent club as he served as injury fill-in and stayed in the NHL for seven games. McMillan should have a similar role in 2011-12. (Updated 8/16/11)
