Fantasy Analysis
Considering goals and assists are not Nick Spaling's primary responsibility, he's still contributed this season with 15 points in 50 games, one more than the career-high 14 points he posted last year. This does not make him a very attractive fantasy option in most standard formats, however it's easy to see why the Preds rely on him a reliable, two-way checking forward. He rarely gets into trouble defensively and he does a good job of keeping other teams' top lines in check. He continues to skate on the team's fourth line with Jordin Tootoo and rookie Gabriel Bourque. (Updated 02/10/2012).

01/10/2012 23:48 Predators 4, Avalanche 1
Pekka Rinne had 32 saves, Martin Erat and Ryan Ellis had a goal and an assist each and the Nashville Predators beat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1 on Tuesday night.
01/05/2012 22:43 Weber returns from concussion in Predators' loss to Stars
Mike Ribeiro scored two goals in the first period and the Dallas Stars beat Nashville 4-1 on Thursday night, ruining the return of Predators captain Shea Weber from a concussion.
Spaling, who signed a new two-year deal with the Predators in July, notched 14 points (8G, 6A) in 74 games last season. He was seeing as much as 17-18 minutes of ice time per game down the stretch last season, but was doing so in a checking line capacity. He will resume this role come October. (Updated 10/4/11)
