| Fantasy Analysis |
Voracek had no points in his previous eight games coming into Saturday, so he was clearly due for a decent outing. He has really been struggling to find an offensive game lately, but is just eight points behind his 38 from 2008-09. Bench him in most leagues until he starts to consistently contribute. Week 17 Fantasy Hockey Planner
Plenty of developments from around the league as the Olympic break draws closer. Will Jose Theodore continue his hot play of late? Just one topic that our Michael Hurcomb touches on in his latest Fantasy Planner.

| There was a lot of hype surrounding Jakub Voracek as he made his much-anticipated NHL debut in 2008-09. The Blue Jackets felt the then 19-year-old Czech native was ready for full-time NHL duty after wrapping up a successful two-year career with Halifax of the QMJHL (juniors). The scouting report said Voracek had the tools to one day be a very successful top-six forward. He was an outstanding puck distributor, explosive skater and solid on the defensive end. From a hockey standpoint, Voracek had a very successful rookie season. From a Fantasy standpoint, it was a so-so year. Voracek was 10th among rookie with 38 points and second with 29 assists. He finished at plus-11 and also logged 171 minutes of power-play time. Voracek is once again expected to play heavily among the top-six forwards in 2009-10 and provide a solid two-way presence for the Blue Jackets. However, the 2007 first-round pick has low-end Fantasy appeal until he stars becoming a bit more aggressive on the offensive end. (Updated 8/17/09) |
