Fantasy Analysis
Karl Alzner called the play beforehand, telling his offense "if the puck was in the circle, bump it back, if it's out of the circle, leave it." His plan worked and the 24-year old's shot found twine. Alzner had just two goals combined in his last two full seasons. Tuesday was a positive step forward but fantasy owners will want to limit their expectations until they see more from the defenseman. 05/04/2013 15:50 Capitals top Rangers in OT, take 2-0 series lead to NY
Mike Green scored eight minutes into overtime, Braden Holtby made 24 saves for his first career playoff shutout, and the Washington Capitals beat the New York Rangers 1-0 Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Karl Alzner is developing into a reliable stalwart on the Washington blue line. He's played all 82 games in each of the last two seasons, posting a career-high 17 points last season. He's not going to contribute too much defensively, but he's a valuable piece to Washington's team success. (Updated 8/14/12)
