| Fantasy Analysis |
It's good to see Goligoski, who achieved his first 20-assist season on Sunday, starting to heat up again after he went pretty cold offensively from November through mid-January. Goligoski does have a lot of offensive potential, so he could be a sleeper for the stretch run in Fantasy. (Updated 02/07/2010).

| Pittsburgh showed a pretty strong leap of faith in the offseason by handing defenseman Alex Goligoski a three-year contract extension despite the fact he has logged just 48 games of NHL experience. Pittsburgh has been pleased with the 24-year-old's progress and hopes he can bring his offensive efforts to the team's blue line full-time in 2009-10. Goligoski had his most extensive NHL term in 2008-09 by appearing in 45 games. He totaled six goals (four power play), 20 points and a plus-5 rating. Goligoski did most of his damage before Dec. 1 as he was eventually demoted to the minors and appeared in just nine games after Jan. 1. Goligoski totaled 18 points in 26 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, but with some key departures on the blue line, the opportunity will be there for Goligoski this season. Consider him a Fantasy sleeper Draft Day. (Updated 8/18/09) |
