Fantasy Analysis
Although he's bordering on 26 years old and has been consistently solid in the AHL -- he posted a .919 save percentage for the Providence Bruins this year -- Anton Khudobin has only played in seven NHL games (five starts), amassing a 5-1-0 record and .961 save percentage with Minnesota and now Boston. The Russian goalie could see one more start with the Bruins having locked up the No. 2 seed in the East, and he appears likely to be the backup to Tim Thomas as Boston heads into the postseason. 01/14/2011 17:41 Backstrom, Theodore hurt, Wild to start Khudobin
Rookie goalie Anton Khudobin has been named the starter for Friday's game against Colorado, with Niklas Backstrom and Jose Theodore each out with lower-body injuries. Another rookie goalie, Matt Hackett, was recalled from the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston to back up.
Khudobin, who has looked sharp in very brief NHL stints over the last two seasons, will be penciled in as the No. 1 goalie for AHL Providence and provides nice insurance if either Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask is injured at any point. (Updated 8/16/11)
