Toews has 10 points in 10 November games and is up to plus-12 on the season. He has definitely put behind him a sluggish start and the injury. It's great news for Fantasy owners who are expecting Toews to carry their team in 2009-10. Continue to start the talented center in all Fantasy formats. (Updated 11/29/2009).

| The Blackhawks made the bold move of naming Jonathan Toews the 34th captain in team history on July 17, 2008. He became the third-youngest player in NHL history to earn the distinction, but since he was slated to be the team's top line-center in 2008-09, Chicago felt it was time for the then 20-year-old forward to take on a leadership role. Chicago had to fight off the skeptics early in the season as Toews came out of the gate with no goals and six assists in 10 October games. However, by season's end the second-year forward won the hearts of the Chicago faithful. Toews led the Blackhawks and finished 16th in the NHL with 34 goals. He totaled 17 goals and 29 points in his final 29 regular-season games and 25 scores in his final 46 appearances. He was also very proficient in clutch situations. Toews led Chicago with seven-game winning goals and had six of the team's 11 shootout goals, which tied for third-best in the NHL. He had six multi-goal games and 18 multi-point performances. Toews didn't slow down in the playoffs either. He recorded seven goals and 13 points in 17 games as Chicago made it to the Western Conference finals. Toews has 123 points in 146 regular-season games and many wonder where those totals might be if he didn't miss time as a rookie in 2007-08 with a knee injury. Toews, who is entering the final year of his contract, is no worse than a No. 3 Fantasy forward Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
