| Fantasy Analysis |
Giroux is having a decent first full NHL season with 38 points in 61 games, and if he can somehow find his way off the third line and on to a scoring unit his Fantasy value would certainly rise. For now he remains just an option in deeper leagues and a solid long-term keeper. (Updated 03/03/2010).

| All eyes were on Flyers rookie Claude Giroux when training camp opened last season. As a potential impact player, Giroux was given his first legitimate chance to make the Flyers' roster. Unfortunately, the 2006 first-round pick made a lot of rookie mistakes and Flyers management started him in the AHL for his own good. It turned out to be an excellent move for the Flyers and Giroux. He settled into a groove in the AHL, totaling 17 goals and 34 points in 33 games. He would eventually remain with the Flyers the second half of the season and finished with nine goals, 27 points and a plus-10 rating in 42 games. Giroux was also very effective in the playoffs with five points (two goals) in six games. No one is shocked by Giroux's development since he totaled 100-plus points in all three junior hockey seasons with Gatineau of the QMJHL. With the loss of right winger Joffrey Lupul, Giroux is expected to open the season as a top-six forward. Put Giroux on your radar as a top Fantasy sleeper. (Updated 8/18/09) |
