Hunwick has rare multi-point game: Bruins D Matt Hunwick scored a goal, tallied an assist and finished at plus-1 on Monday against the Rangers. Hunwick cut the deficit to 2-1 by scoring a short-handed goal with 5:27 remaining, then assisted on Blake Wheeler's shot over goalie Henrik Lundqvist's glove that tied it at 15:59. It was his fifth goal of the season and first score since Nov. 10.

| Fantasy Analysis |
Hunwick last had a multi-point game on Oct. 10 against the Islanders. He has only 11 points in 38 games. Boston uses Hunwick as a seventh blueliner and reserve forward. They bounce him from the blue line and forward rotation. It has affected Hunwick's game to some degree since he can't get a feel for continuity. Hunwick has low-end Fantasy appeal until further notice.

| Hunwick signed a multi-year extension this offseason after putting up 27 points in 53 games during what has to really be considered his rookie year after he played just 13 games in 2007-08. Hunwick didn’t see much time on special teams though, which limits his offensive potential a little in Boston, although a point every other game gives him plenty of Fantasy value as a possible No. 3 Fantasy defenseman if he can stick around for a full season. It would be nice to see him pick up a few more minutes in the box, though. (Updated 9/16/09) |
