Erat isn't a Fantasy stud by any means, but should be inserted into lineups in deeper leagues for Fantasy Week 6 (Nov. 9-15) as he has 60-point potential. (Updated 11/07/2009).

Predators shut down Blackhawks behind Rinne's 22 saves
Pekka Rinne made 22 saves for his first shutout of the season and fifth overall, and Joel Ward scored on a second-period power play in the Nashville Predators' 2-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.

| Martin Erat has delivered great results for the Predators since they took him in the seventh round in 1999, so it wasn't a shock to see Nashville hand him a seven-year extension last offseason. He rewarded the team with his third straight 50-point campaign in 2008-09. He ranked third on the club with 33 assists, and fourth with 50 points and 17 goals. He is second in franchise history with 303 points and 102 goals. Erat did post 15 points (12 assists) in his final 14 games, but missed the last six contests with a fractured left leg. Erat is not expected to miss the start of the season. While the Predators have gotten great returns on a low-round draft pick, inconsistency continues to be Erat's biggest personal hurdle. For that, he remains more of a low-end Fantasy flier. (Updated 8/17/09) |
