D. Sedin goes over 50-point mark: Canucks LW Daniel Sedin scored twice and assisted in Saturday's comeback win over the Maple Leafs.

Sedin now has five multi-point games in his last seven as the Canucks caught fire in late January. Their top line is one of the best in hockey and Sedin remains a must-start option in all Fantasy formats.

| Vancouver made the right move to keep the Sedin twins by forking over identical five-year, $30.5 million extensions in the offseason. The duo have been Vancouver legends since their rookie seasons in 2000-01 and seeing them in different uniforms would just be odd. Daniel is considered the better scorer of the twins. He led Vancouver in 2008-09 with 31 goals, which also placed him 27th in the NHL. He finished with 51 assists, which was second on the team to brother Henrik's 60 helpers and 14th in the league. His 82 points tied Henrik for the team lead and placed him 13th among all NHL skaters. Sedin has totaled 179 goals and 462 points in 642 games with the Canucks. He has not finished below even the last seven seasons, including a career-high plus-24 marker in '08-09. Sedin also has missed just one game over the last five seasons and hasn't played less than 75 games in any of his first eight seasons. The new contract shouldn't be a reason for Daniel to put on the breaks, so consider him a must-own Fantasy forward. (Updated 8/17/09) |
