H. Sedin mired in rare slump: The Sports Xchange reports Canucks C Henrik Sedin's consistency and dominance anchoring the top line in January has come to a roaring halt in February as the No.1 unit with twin brother Daniel Sedin and Alex Burrows was held off the score sheet for a second straight game in Ottawa on Thursday. It's the first time since Nov. 1 Henrik has been held off the score sheet in consecutive games.

Thursday was the third time in four games that Sedin has been held without a point, matching the total number of times that happened in the previous 26 contests. It may have to do with being on the road, where opponents get the last line change and are better able to dictate defensive match ups. "We've got a lot of players right now who need to find a way to play better on the road," coach Alain Vigneault said. Still, we don't expect Sedin to struggle for long. Keep him active in Fantasy.

| Canucks fans let out a big sigh of relief in the offseason when Vancouver finally came to terms with the Sedin twins on identical five-year, $30.5 million extensions. The two sides had been trying to hash out a new deal for more than a year, and after long negotiations, the Canucks were able to keep their star forwards. Henrik is known as the better passer of the Sedin tandem. He has totaled 60-plus assists for three straight seasons and has 460 helpers in 646 career games with the Canucks. Henrik tied brother Daniel for the team lead with 82 points in '08-09, which also happened to be a career high. Sedin also showed an improved scoring touch with a career-high 22 goals. Eight of them were game winners, which was the seventh-best mark in the NHL. He finished above plus-20 for the second time in his career and hasn't been below even since his rookie season in 2000-01. Sedin has been quite durable through the years as well. He has played a full season for four straight years and six times in his first eight campaigns. Sedin also took the most faceoffs by far for the Canucks in '08-09 with 1,364. He does it all for Vancouver and is worthy of owning in all Fantasy formats. (Updated 8/17/09) |
