Fantasy Analysis
Coach Lindy Ruff was obviously reluctant to use Nathan Gerbe too much in such an important game, but he'll need to be in proper game shape if the Sabres qualify for the playoffs. With upcoming road games in Philadelphia and Boston, we're not about to predict any late-season heroics. (Updated 04/03/2012).
02/10/2012 22:36 Sabres rally to beat Stars in shootout
Nathan Gerbe scored the decisive shootout goal in the fifth round and the Buffalo Sabres rallied from a two-goal third-period deficit to beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Friday night.
In late November of last season, fans were calling for Gerbe to get sent down to the AHL. He had only three assists in the team's first 18 games, and didn't score his first goal until December 21. A switch flipped for Gerbe after that, and he went on to the season that most expected of him right out of the gate. In the final 46 games of the season, Gerbe posted 29 points (16 G, 13 A), including a number of game-winners, and he also had a solid playoff series against the Flyers. In 2011-12, Gerbe should be expected, at worst, to hit the 20-goal plateau and chip in 20 assists. (Updated 10/4/11)
