Jets' Clitsome Dealing With Back Issue
Clitsome's undisclosed injury is a back ailment, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports. The Jets went ahead and moved Clitsome to IR on Thursday to afford him further recovery time while opening up a roster spot. He has yet to resume skating and it's not certain when he might return from IR.
Jets' Clitsome Placed On IR
Clitsome (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.Clitsome has already missed more than a week with the still unspecified injury, so he'll be eligible to return at any time, but clearly he's not ready to go Friday against Minnesota. Julian Melchiori was recalled to provide some depth along the blue line.
Jets' Clitsome Out Friday
Clitsome (undisclosed) will not play Friday vs. the Panthers.Coach Claude Noel said that Clitsome "wasn't feeling great," but didn't elaborate further on why the defenseman was absent from morning skate. It would seem whatever injury he's concealing is probably minor, so for now, fantasy owners can anticipate having Clitsome back in their lineups Sunday vs. the Canucks.
|Grant Clitsome only suited up for 32 games last season due to a back injury which eventually required surgery, but did manage to accumulate two goals and 10 assists in the process. Thankfully, he’s expected to make a full recovery from that surgery by the start of the season. That being said, he’s never really come close to playing a full NHL slate, so any fantasy owners who are thinking about picking him up probably want to take that into account. When he is in the lineup, Clitsome will likely skate on the team’s third pairing and will likely compete for playing time with players like Paul Postma and Adam Pardy. If he can establish himself as an everyday player, fantasy owners in deeper leagues could have some use for a player like Clitsome. (Updated 8/13/14) |
