Rather than signing a veteran backup for Steve Mason, the Blue Jackets thought outside the box (outside the crease?) and scooped up AHL star Dekanich from the Predators. Pekka Rinne's presence didn't give him any chance to establish himself in Nashville, but if Mason has another meltdown Dekanich will get a golden opportunity to show what he can do in the NHL.
