Fantasy Analysis
Alex Grant, a fourth-round pick in 2007, has spent much of his career on the injured list. He now has 15 power-play points, sixth among AHL defenders, and has boosted his stock with a plus-11 rating in 2011-12. "The way he's playing right now is definitely putting himself in a good situation not only for our team, but for himself and for his career," coach John Hynes said. (Updated 01/30/2012).

Grant missed most of 2010-11 with a broken wrist, but the 6-foot-3, 190-pound defender, had shown a scoring touch in the QMJHL, averaging nearly a point per game (31 in 37 games) in 2008-09. The right-handed shot also paired with fellow Pittsburgh prospect, Simon Despres, in his last year with the St. John Sea Dogs. Grant has the size and skill to play in the NHL, but he'll likely suit up for the Wilkes-Barre Baby Pens for the next season or two. (Updated 8/16/11)
