Fantasy Analysis
The Predators believe Jonathon Blum is playing well, but not well enough to be recalled at this time. Blum, who has five points in six games with the Admirals this season, was sent down last week. "He's playing pretty well, and he's getting a lot of ice time, which is the whole key right now for him is to play a lot of minutes," coach Barry Trotz said. The Preds felt Blum was ready to be a full-time NHL player this season, but more seasoning in the minors was still needed, apparently. Don't expect him to be much of a fantasy force this season. 12/28/2011 23:06 Predators deal Wild eighth loss in row
Colin Wilson scored the only goal in the shootout, and the Nashville Predators sent the Minnesota Wild to their eighth straight loss with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday.
12/26/2011 22:50 Filppula's two goals pace Detroit
Valtteri Filppula scored a pair of goals to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators.
In February, after watching Blum's development at AHL Milwaukee the previous two seasons, the Preds were so convinced he was ready to be an everyday NHL player that they traded fellow blueliner Alexander Sulzer to Florida and recalled Blum to join the Preds on a full-time basis. Blum then went on to play the the final 23 games of the regular season, as well as 12 of the team's 14 playoff games, averaging almost 18 minutes of ice time per night including 2:19 on the power play. Blum finished the regular season with just eight points, but this does not reflect his value to the team, and he continues to improve in all facets of the game. He's not worthy of much fantasy attention just yet, but keep an eye on his progress this season - his time will come. (Updated 10/4/11)
