Tyler Cuma will suit up for Houston at home against the Chicago Wolves on Friday, and then it's possible he could be back for the big club's season finale Saturday. (Updated 04/06/2012).
Cuma, a first-round pick in 2008, is known as a fundamentally sound defenseman, but his young professional career has been plagued by knee injuries. On top of a sprained MCL in his left knee that required surgery early in 2009, Cuma subsequently tore his ACL (same knee) and again went under the knife, putting a question mark on his availability for the start of the 2011-12 season. Assuming he can stay away from the operating room, Cuma should continue developing in the minors while preparing for an NHL job in the coming years. (Updated 8/16/11)
