Fantasy Analysis
Blake Geoffrion said a six-game run as a healthy scratch last month was the wake-up call he needed. "I was out of the lineup for a while and I have to grind a little harder, work a little harder. I have to win those battles before I get the chances, " said Geoffrion. (Updated 04/06/2012).
03/01/2012 22:37 Habs blow lead, still beat Wild in SO
David Desharnais scored in regulation and in a shootout as the Montreal Canadiens pulled out a 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild, despite blowing a three-goal lead in the third period Thursday.
02/17/2012 22:22 Red Wings earn 22nd straight home win
Pavel Datsyuk scored with five seconds left to give the Detroit Red Wings 22nd consecutive home victory, 2-1 over the Nashville Predators on Friday.
Geoffrion scored just eight points (6G, 2A) in his rookie season with the Preds last year. He spent the first four months of the season in the AHL, but was recalled in February and stuck with the team right through to the end of the regular season and into the playoffs, where he added two assists in 12 games. Geoffrion certainly has the bloodlines and the raw scoring ability to make a big impact in the NHL someday, but for now, expect the Preds to continue to bring him along slowly. (Updated 10/4/11)
