Shattenkirk Leads Blues In Goals For April: Kevin Shattenkirk has three goals in April after scoring his fifth of the year Sunday against Colorardo. (Updated 4/23/13)
No information available at this time (Updated 6/19/13).
This represents an outburst of offense for a moribund Blues team. Kevin Shattenkirk's tied for the team lead in goals with David Backes. This is a breakout month for the third-year defenseman after just two goals in the first 33 games of the season. Ride him while he's hot. (Updated 4/23/13).
05/07/2013 01:04 Kings rediscover offense, rally past Blues, tie series at 2
Anze Kopitar tied it with 12:46 to play, Justin Williams tipped home the go-ahead goal 76 seconds later, and the Los Angeles Kings evened their first-round series with the St. Louis Blues with a 4-3 victory Monday night.
04/30/2013 23:48 Blues score on Quick's gaffe in OT, top Kings in opener
Alex Steen stole the puck from goalie Jonathan Quick behind the net and scored a short-handed goal to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 victory against the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.
Kevin Shattenkirk, who had a reputation of an offensive defenseman after his 43-point rookie season in 2010-11, did nothing to dispel that notion when he threw up another 43 points in 81 games in his first full season as a Blue last season. Only this time, he brought more to the defensive end, finishing the season tied for second on the team at plus-20 rating. He's overshadowed by teammate Alex Pietrangelo, but the two give the Blues great offensive potential from the blue line. The organization would like to see Shattenkirk continue to round out his game, but it is also in need of the offense he brings. Five of his nine goals and 18 of his 43 points came on the man advantage. If he's paired with a defensive specialist, like Roman Polak or Barrett Jackman, Shattenkirk can continue to push the offense in 2012-13. (Updated 8/14/12)
