Fantasy Analysis
The Jackets haven't announced whether Tim Erixon will undergo surgery yet, but either way he should have plenty of time to heal up before the beginning of the 2013-14 season. Erixon finished the year with five assists and a plus-4 rating in 31 games for Columbus. (Updated 4/29/13).
04/03/2013 18:16 NHL trade deadline winners and losers
Because it's an instant analysis world and we don't have the patience to let everything play out over several years, let's take a look at some of the winners and losers from the trade deadline season.
Famous for stating he didn't want to play in Calgary after the Flames made him their first-round pick in 2009, Erixson was shipped to the Rangers last year where he spent much of his time in the AHL with the Connecticut Whale, posting 33 points in 52 games. Perhaps the move to Columbus will humble him, after all, he's not playing in Calgary. The Rangers included him in their Rick Nash trade this past summer. Still young, Tim Erixon definitely has offensive upside to his game, but didn't produce much during his 18 NHL contests with the Rangers, managing two points. Surprisingly, Columbus's blue line is crowded with puck-movers in Jack Johnson, Nikita Nikitin and James Wisniewski, but, given the lack of talent in in the bottom third of the Jackets' blue line, Erixon could make a run at snagging a regular role.
