Wild's Fontaine Returns From Groin Injury
Fontaine (groin) had two shots on goal in 16:22 of ice time in Thursday's exhibition loss to Pittsburgh.Fontaine has missed some practice time due to a sore groin muscle, but it doesn't look like a worry for the regular season. Fontaine will compete for a spot on Minnesota's fourth line.
Wild's Fontaine Rejoins Practice
Fontaine (groin) took part in Wednesday's practice, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. It's not yet known in what capacity Fontaine was available for the session, but it appears safe to say that a long-term absence has been ruled out. Assuming Fontaine will be good to go for the start of the regular season, a role on the checking line probably looms for the 26-year-old.
Wild's Fontaine (Groin) Not Practicing
Fontaine (groin) is not practicing Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.Fontaine is dealing with a sore groin and missed the Wild's opening preseason game Monday. The team has not provided a timetable for his return, but it doesn't appear to be anything that will keep him out for an extended period.
|Justin Fontaine put up 13 goals and eight assists through 66 games in his rookie year. We'd like to say that the young winger will continue to improve and get more ice time in his sophomore year. But, the Wild's lineup continues to get deeper and the team's top-six looks nearly out of reach for winger and that will continue to limit his upside. His career upside is probably about 50 points -- there's a bit of puck luck, like an empty net on his hat trick or a bounce off the shin, in those 13 goals. He'll be a fantasy role player on the Wild's fourth line. There's not much value in that. (Updated 8/13/14) |
