Iginla scores once in each period: Jarome Iginla scored a goal in each period to lead the Flames to a 5-2 victory over the Kings on Saturday. Iginla completed his first hat trick of the season, and ninth of his career, with a shot from the right circle that got past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick with 4:07 left in the game. It was Iginla's 11th goal in his last nine games. The Flames captain scored Calgary's first goal just 13 seconds after the opening faceoff. He tied the game 2-2 during a 5-on-3 power play 6:51 into the second. (Updated 11/21/2009).

Iginla has failed to score only twice so far in the month of Novemver as he has increased his points total on the season to 22 with 15 goals and seven assists. He is off to a good start to the season and playing up to his billing as a must-start Fantasy option. (Updated 11/21/2009).

| Jarome Iginla took his rightful place atop the Flames' all-time scoring list in 2008-09. The Calgary lifer, who has been starring for the Flames since his rookie season in 1996-97, passed the great Al MacInnis as the team's all-time leading scorer, and he looks to add onto his 851 career points in 2009-10. Iginla was one point away from recording his third straight 90-point campaign last season. He totaled 35 goals and 54 assists in 82 regular-season games. It was the eighth straight season Iginla topped 30 goals and the third straight season he had 40-plus assists. Iginla also finished 19th in the NHL with 32 power-play points (10 goals) and had two five-point games. The only disappointing storylines from Iginla's '08-09 campaign was a minus-2 rating and the fact he scored just one goal in 11 January games. Iginla's scoring did disappear for a while in the middle of the season, but he finished strong with 11 goals and 22 points in his final 21 games. Even with the loss of coach Mike Keenan, Iginla should be a featured offensive weapon in Brent Sutter's scheme. Consider Iginla a must-own Fantasy option. (Updated 8/17/09) |
