Lehtinen comes off IR Sunday: Dallas Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen was activated off injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes. Lehtinen, a member of Finland's Olympic team, missed the previous six games with a neck injury. He had no points and finished at even in 16:13 of ice time.

We hate to say it but now comes the countdown until the next time Lehtinen is injured. It almost seems like a given with how much time Lehtinen has missed the last few seasons due to injury. All that time out of the lineup has affected his performance on the ice, and Lehtinen is nothing more than a injury-risk Fantasy flier.

Jussi Jokinen is quietly putting together a nice stretch, but it hasn't been enough to get him added to the Finnish Olympic team. As Michael Hurcomb writes, it shouldn't stop owners from scooping him up.

Stars right wing Lehtinen back in action
Stars right wing Jere Lehtinen was activated off injured reserve for Sunday's game against the Coyotes.

| We might never witness Jere Lehtinen's full potential because the Finnish forward can never seem to stay healthy. He endured another injury-marred season in 2008-09 and it started from the beginning. Lehtinen sat out the first 14 games of the season with an injury and appeared in only three games after making his debut Nov. 11 before sitting out 14 more games with an upper-body ailment. He would appear in just 48 games for a second straight season, totaling eight goals and 24 points. The highlight of his season was a career-high eight-game point streak from Jan. 21-Feb. 8 (four goals, seven assists). Dallas brought Lehtinen back in the offseason with a one-year deal hoping he can stay healthy and become a 30-goal threat again. Lehtinen remains just an injury-risk Fantasy flier for deeper formats.
