Blake starting to hit stride: Sharks D Rob Blake tallied an assist and finished at even on Monday against the Maple Leafs. He has one goal, one assist and a plus-2 rating in his first four February games.

Red Wings rally with four unanswered goals to beat Sharks again

Marleau's 35th goal of season extends Sharks' domination of Ducks
Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Rob Blake scored rare goals in the second period for San Jose and the Sharks beat playoff nemesis Anaheim for the fifth straight time this season with a 3-1 victory Thursday.

| After two turbulent seasons with the Kings, Rob Blake found his way up the Californian coast to San Jose in 2008-09. The move proved to be great for his career as the 19-year-veteran once again became a force to be reckoned with on the blue line. He ranked tied for 16th among NHL defensemen in points (45), 19th in assists (35), 8th in shots (198), tied for 17th in power-play goals (6) and ninth in penalty minutes (110). Blake has managed 10-plus goals 13 times in his career, tying him with Mathieu Schneider for second-most among active NHL defensemen behind Nicklas Lidstrom (15). Blake also got it done on the defensive end, finishing with a plus-16 rating, 66 hits and 114 blocked shots. Blake was at minus-45 during his two-year stint with the Kings. Blake has failed to reach 40 points in just three of the last 11 seasons. He re-signed for one year in the offseason and will be entering his 20th NHL season in 2009-10. The 39-year-old defenseman still passes as a high-end Fantasy option. (Updated 8/17/09) |
