Fantasy Analysis
Vinny Prospal ends the season with 16 goals and 55 points, numbers very similar to his last full season in the NHL, 2009-10. He will never to be a top offensive player, but can be a useful second or third line forward. (Updated 04/07/2012).
03/31/2012 23:04 Blues upended by Blue Jackets at home
R.J. Umberger scored twice, rookie goalie Allen York made it three wins in three career starts and the Columbus Blue Jackets made St. Louis need some help to clinch the Central division, knocking off the Blues 5-2 on Saturday night.
03/28/2012 22:38 Blue Jackets' York earns first NHL win
Allen York stopped 29 shots and earned his first NHL victory in an emergency start, and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Red Wings 4-2 on Wednesday night after being routed in Detroit two days earlier.
03/23/2012 21:58 Umberger nets hat trick, Jackets win
R.J. Umberger had three goals for the third time in his career and Steve Mason stopped 39 shots Friday night to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 5-1 victory over Carolina, dealing a critical loss to the Hurricanes' diminishing playoff hopes.
Prospal played just 29 games for the Rangers in '10-'11, but he averaged 80 games a season in the previous five campaigns so the injury worries that dropped his price tag in free agency may be overblown. He's a great glue guy on the ice and in the dressing room while still possessing good puck skills, and Prospal will get first crack at replacing Kristian Huselius on the Rick Nash-Jeff Carter line. While he isn't going to approach the 80-point mark from his Lightning heyday even with those linemates, another 20 goal, 55-60 point season should be well within reach. (Updated 10/4/11)
