Selanne has two power-play scores: Teemu Selanne scored twice on the power play, defenseman Nick Boynton also connected with the man advantage and Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted his first shutout of the season, leading the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-0 victory on Friday that snapped the Chicago Blackhawks' eight-game winning streak. Selanne converted Corey Perry's pass through the crease 42 seconds before the first intermission while Duncan Keith was serving a slashing penalty. Selanne made it 2-0 with just three seconds left on a penalty in the second period, knocking in a rebound for his 14th goal this season after Cristobal Huet stopped Ryan Getzlaf's short backhander from a sharp angle.

Selanne has three multi-point games in his last six outings and five goals in that span. Even with Corey Perry stealing first-line time at right wing, Selanne is still finding ways to contribute. He does most of his damage on the man advantage. Selanne remains a viable No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 41 saves in his first victory of the season despite allowing Jarome Iginla's tying goal with 18 seconds left in regulation, and Teemu Selanne scored the only shootout goal in the Anaheim Ducks' 3-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday.

Bill Guerin ended Pittsburgh's eight-game streak without a power-play goal by scoring in the first period, Jordan Staal scored short-handed and the Penguins wrapped up Anaheim's winless four-game road trip by beating the Ducks 5-2 on Monday night.

| Fantasy owners and NHL enthusiasts are witnessing the end of an era as Ducks forward Teemu Selanne said the 2009-10 season will probably be his last. The 39-year-old forward and 10-time All-Star said a man his age doesn't belong in the NHL, but we beg to differ. Selanne has posted 39 goals and 38 assists in 91 games since coming out of semi-retirement during the 2007-08 season. Maybe the 90-point plateau is no longer an option, but Selanne still serves his purpose in the NHL. The Finnish forward became just the 45th player and sixth born outside of North America to notch the 1,200th point of his career during the 2008-09 season. He finished with 27 goals and 54 points in 65 games. Selanne was especially dangerous on the power play, as he led Anaheim and was fifth in the NHL with 16 man-advantage scores. He enters the '09-10 season ranked 41st on the NHL's all-time scoring list (1,212 points), 18th all-time in goals (579) and tied for 64th all-time in assists (633). He usually plays behind Corey Perry on the right side of the ice, but Selanne will be no worse than a No. 4 Fantasy forward Draft Day. (Updated 8/17/09) |
