Russian hockey club Lokomotiv of the KHL announced Thursday it has signed Zednik to a two-year contract. Also Thursday, Zednik was named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, given in honor of the late Minnesota North Stars player. Zednik battles back from serious injury

(5/1/09) Detroit's Chris Chelios, the NHL's oldest player at 47, joined Nashville's Steve Sullivan and Florida's Richard Zednik on Thursday as finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award, named in honor of late Minnesota North Stars player Bill Masterton, is given to "the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." The winner will announced June 18 in Las Vegas.

Zednik over illness, scores goal

(3/31/09) Richard Zednik and Bryan McCabe scored power-play goals late in the second period and lifted the Florida Panthers to a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. With Brendan Bell serving a double minor for high-sticking, Zednik scored with 2:42 left in the second period. He pushed the puck through Brian Elliott's pads to give Florida a 2-1 lead after Elliott stopped his initial shot from the side of the net. Zednik was back in the lineup Tuesday after missing one game with an illness.

Zednik expected back Tuesday

(3/29/09) The Sports Xchange reports Panthers RW Richard Zednik missed Saturday's game against the Stars with an undisclosed illness. He's expected to return for Florida's game Tuesday against the Senators.
