| It was bound to happen. For as long as Patrik Elias has been with the Devils (13 seasons) and producing like he has, it was only a matter of time before he plastered his name atop the franchise record books. Elias achieved a few impressive milestones in 2008-09 while finishing second on the Devils with 31 goals, 47 assists and 78 points. Those totals helped Elias pass John MacLean as the team's all-time leading scorer with 706 points. He also has the team record with 411 assists and 181 multi-point games. Elias got off to a sluggish start last season with just five points (two goals) and a minus-1 rating in nine October games. He then turned on the jets in November with 16 points (six goals) in 13 games and followed that with a season-high 19 points (nine goals) in 14 December games. While his production then slowed as the calendar year turned, Elias still achieved his fourth 30-goal campaign, which is second most in team history behind MacLean's five. Elias, who had 23 multi-point games, missed five games late in the season with a lower-body injury, but still played in 70-plus games for a third straight season. Even at 33 years old, Elias is finding ways to stay healthy and productive. Elias is gearing up for his second stint with head coach Jacques Lemaire. Elias' NHL career began under Lemaire in the late 1990s. He didn't have impressive numbers under Lemaire, but that was still early in his career. While it might be tough for Elias to repeat his '08-09 numbers playing in a defensive system, he can be considered a viable Fantasy forward in all formats, even if he's going to miss the first couple of weeks of the season after undergoing groin surgery.
