Demitra moved to out indefinitely: NHL.com reports Canucks RW Pavol Demitra, who has yet to play this season because of shoulder surgery, is now out indefinitely after a shoulder scope revealed complications in his range of motion. "He was going fine and in the last three weeks he hit a wall and the range of motion wasn't there," coach Alain Vigneault said. "He tried different shots and that wasn't helping him. Finally, the doctors and (Demitra) decided to go in there and find out what was wrong." (Updated 10/23/2009).

| Fantasy Analysis |
Demitra totaled 20 goals and 53 points in 69 games with Vancouver in 2008-09, his first year with the club. Vancouver was eagerly anticipating Demitra's return in late October-early November, but now must wait an undetermined time before they get one of their top right wingers back. Demitra is more of a No. 4 Fantasy forward when healthy. (Updated 10/23/2009).

| Canucks general manager Mike Gillis lured Pavol Demitra to Vancouver in the summer of 2008 with hopes his former client (Gillis used to be Demitra's agent) could rekindle his 30-goal potential playing on a line with Daniel and Henrik Sedin. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out that way for Demitra. He limped his way to 20 goals in 69 games and did his best work on a line with Mats Sundin and Ryan Kesler. We have to give Demitra his credit since he did play through injury down the stretch. He totaled seven goals and 28 points in his final 32 games, but thanks to a sluggish start he managed just 53 points. Demitra has not played a full season since 2001-02 with the Blues and continues to be plagued by injury. In fact, he had offseason shoulder surgery and his status for the start of the 2009-10 season is in question. Demitra can be a 20-goal threat when he is 100 percent, but his best days are behind him. View Demitra more of a No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy forward. (Updated 8/17/09) |
