Panthers' Jovanovski (Hip) Not Interested In Early Retirement: Ed Jovanovski (hip) isn't interested in early retirement and plans on returning next season, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. "My mind-set is work hard in the summer, get my hip strong, but it's too early to say how it's going to respond," he said. "I'm a driven individual and for me playing again is what I want to do and what I'm going to do.' (Updated 4/29/13)

03/16/2013 22:19 Isles blow big lead, rebound for win over Panthers
Casey Cizikas broke a third-period tie, and the New York Islanders held on to beat the Florida Panthers 4-3 after blowing a three-goal lead in the final frame Saturday night.
03/05/2013 22:50 Backup Markstrom stops 30 for first win for Panthers
Tomas Kopecky, Shawn Matthias and Mike Santorelli scored for Florida and Jonathan Huberdeau converted a penalty shot in the Panthers' 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night.
Ed Jovanovski posted 13 points in an injury riddled 66-game season for the Panthers last year. Jovanovski still has value in deeper leagues, but his ability to stay healthy, on a consistent basis, is a cause for concern. Back-to-back 13 and 14-point seasons are not doing the veteran defender any favors and should be considered when reviewing the available options before and during the season. His best offensive days may have ended when he left Vancouver; Jovanovski is counted on to shut down the opposition while the Panthers have several other defenders on whom they rely to spark the attack.
