Fantasy Analysis
He's hard into rehab, some 11 weeks since the surgery which, to the layperson, would most easily be described as a partial knee replacement -- a layer of titanium was applied to the head of the femur. "I have to [do the rehab], for my own peace of mind, give myself a chance to do this," Mattias Ohlund said. "I'd like to play again. I don't know if it's going to happen, but I hope so." His return will be a daunting task and there's no guarantee that he will even be skating again by September. Right now, he is doing light weight training, stretching, swimming and riding a stationary bike. Hockey is hard on the knees; we've never heard of anyone coming back from a partial replacement to play pro hockey. (Updated 05/16/2012).
04/15/2011 21:45 Lightning rout Penguins to split first two games
Martin St. Louis had a goal and assist to help the Tampa Bay Lightning even their first-round playoff series with a 5-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.
04/05/2011 21:38 Vanek nets hat trick, Sabres within a point of playoffs
Thomas Vanek scored three times to lead Buffalo to a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, inching the Sabres within a point of clinching a playoff berth.
Slow and steady wins the race. Ohlund, who turns 35 just before camp opens, is entering Year 3 on a seven-year deal. His game has slowed but he's still an on-ice Clydesdale, logging heavy minutes and contributing in PIMs, hits and blocked shots. His fantasy value is nil beyond that. (Updated 10/4/11)
