Whitney pushes streak to seven games: The Sports Xchange reports Hurricanes LW Ray Whitney built his points streak to seven games when he was awarded the second assist on the final goal, an empty-netter by LW Jussi Jokinen, in Thursday night's victory against the Islanders. That gave Whitney his 25th assist of the season. Whitney has two goals and seven assists during his streak.

This latest run hasn't been the only time Whitney has been productive in 2009-10. He has 10 goals and 26 points in his last 26 games, so he has been playing well for several weeks. Whitney, who will be a free agent in the offseason, has been a target in trade rumors. Whether he stays or goes, Whitney is going to be a key offensive contributor. Keep him active in Fantasy.

| Ray Whitney is no spring chicken, making his NHL debut back in the 1991-92 season with the Sharks. He has played for six NHL teams in his career but has really found his groove the past four seasons in Carolina. He put up his second-highest point total in his career in 2008-09, posting a team-high 77 points with 24 goals and 53 assists, playing in all 82 games for the first time in his 17-year career, having played 81 games four times. He went through the 2009 playoffs with a broken finger and got it worked on in the offseason. Whitney is not expected to miss training camp however. Heading into the final season of his contract and at his advanced age, Whitney will want to play well in 2009-10 and get another big contract. He is at worst a No. 4 Fantasy forward on Draft Day.
