Luongo allowed more than three goals for the first time in eight appearances on Sunday. He has done pretty well since returning from a rib injury. But that is expected from a top caliber goalie like Luongo, who remains a must-start Fantasy option when healthy. The Canucks TG is also a must-start option. (Updated 11/30/2009).

Thrills, spills mark season's quarter pole
Stars haven't been immune to the injury bug. Bad news, right? Wes Goldstein says that despite some bumps and bruises, the season has been thrilling through the first quarter.

| Roberto Luongo's 2008-09 season might best be remembered for the weeks he spent on injured reserve from late November to mid-January because of a groin injury, and it's a real shame because Luongo had a pretty special season when he was active. Luongo won 22 of his final 30 appearances and finished with his fourth straight 30-win campaign. He was 33-13-7 with a 2.34 GAA, .920 save percentage and career-high nine shutouts in 54 games. He had the NHL's fifth best save percentage and goals-against-average. He also was second behind rookie Steve Mason in shutouts and was ninth with 33 wins. However, once again Luongo had a so-so postseason and missed out on the Stanley Cup. Luongo has been great since landing in Vancouver in 2006-07. He has 115 wins, 20 shutouts and hasn't lost 30 games in a season. Luongo has 40-win potential and practically starts every night in net, so he remains a No.1 Fantasy goalie. The Canucks TG is also a high-end Fantasy option. Don't worry about Luongo inking a 12-year extension. He is still highly motivated to win a Stanley Cup. (Updated 9/2/09) |
