Fantasy Analysis
Jamal Mayers saw time with the club having a couple of players injured and he saw little time, less than seven minutes. He has been more of a healthy scratch than on the ice. Mayers might be in street clothes Monday against the Canucks with the possibility of both Patrick Sharp (upper body) and D Michal Rozsival (upper body) returning to the lineup. He did win both his face-offs against the Coyotes and had three hits. It will be hard to see the Blackhawks re-signing Mayers, who is a free-agent after this season. (Updated 4/21/13).
Last year, Jamal Mayers did the job that he was asked to do when he was signed as a free agent -- throw his weight around. He came close to a 100-100 season (PIMS and hits), but he'll be hard-pressed to duplicate those numbers this time around. The Hawks have Bryan Bickell and Daniel Carcillo as its so-called heavyweights, so Mayers' ice time (and games played) could take a hit this year. (Updated 8/14/12)
