Morrison redirects eighth goal: Capitals C Brendan Morrison scored a goal and finished at plus-1 during Monday's game against the Senators. Morrison gave Washington the lead with 29.3 seconds left in the first when he skated past the crease to redirect Mike Green's pass for his eighth goal. He has scored twice in his last three games.

Morrison has 18 points and a plus-8 rating in his first 24 games with the Capitals. He has really gotten his career back on track after he struggled coming off a major knee injury last season. Morrison fits well into Bruce Boudreau's system and is back to being a viable Fantasy option.

| Brendan Morrison has seen his career take a tailspin over the past two years, getting dumped by three teams in less than 15 months due to injuries and poor performance. The Capitals decided to give Morrison his next chance and they believe he is healthy and ready to be productive. Morrison played with both the Ducks and Stars last season, finishing the campaign with 16 goals and 15 assists in 81 games between the two teams. Morrison will be expected to fill the void left by Sergei Fedorov who decided to make the move over to Russia. Don’t expect Morrison to reach the 70-point mark like he did back in 2002-03 with the Canucks, but look for him to bounce back some after two disappointing seasons in a row. He is an intriguing low-end flier on Draft Day as he should see his numbers go up playing for the Capitals. (Updated 8/18/09) |
