Morrison scores twice vs. Panthers: Washington C Brendan Morrison scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday night in the 2nd period of a 4-1 win over the Panthers. Morrison would later add his second goal of the game, sixth of the season, on the empty net in the 3rd period. He only took two shots on goal in the game.

Washington's center now has 12 points on the season and has three in his last three games alone. Morrison is seeing an increase in production with Alex Ovechkin out with an injury. He's definitely worth adding in most Fantasy leagues right now.

| Brendan Morrison has seen his career take a tailspin over the past two years, getting dumped by three teams in less than 15 months due to injuries and poor performance. The Capitals decided to give Morrison his next chance and they believe he is healthy and ready to be productive. Morrison played with both the Ducks and Stars last season, finishing the campaign with 16 goals and 15 assists in 81 games between the two teams. Morrison will be expected to fill the void left by Sergei Fedorov who decided to make the move over to Russia. Don’t expect Morrison to reach the 70-point mark like he did back in 2002-03 with the Canucks, but look for him to bounce back some after two disappointing seasons in a row. He is an intriguing low-end flier on Draft Day as he should see his numbers go up playing for the Capitals. (Updated 8/18/09) |
