|Sabres add enforcer Cowan |
|(8/20/09) Rugged left wing Jeff Cowan has signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres, who continue to add muscle this offseason. Cowan is an eight-year NHL veteran but spent last season playing for Peoria of the AHL. He previously played two years with Vancouver, where he combined for seven goals and four assists, and 203 penalty minutes in 88 games. The Sabres have already bulked up in free agency this summer by signing forward Mike Grier and defenseman Steve Montador.|

|(10/8/08) Veteran Vancouver Canucks forwards Matt Pettinger, Jeff Cowan and Jason Krog were sent down to the American Hockey League after clearing waivers on Wednesday. Pettinger, who has played 354 NHL games over seven seasons and is making $1.1 million this season and Krog were both sent to Vancouver's AHL affiliate in Manitoba. Cowan, a tough guy who has played more than 400 NHL games since 2000, was sent to Peoria, the affiliate of the St. Louis Blues.|

|(10/3/08) The Sports Xchange reports Canucks LW Jeff Cowan is fighting for a job on the fourth line after a miserable year last season and the offseason free agent addition of tough guy Darcy Hordichuk.|

|(3/2/08) Canucks LW Jeff Cowan didn't get to finish Sunday's game against the Blackhawks as he was sent off for a game misconduct with less than two minutes left. He also spent two minutes in the penalty box earlier in the game for tripping. |
