| Fantasy Analysis |
Cole looked close to making a return toward the end of Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 1-7), but he never did make it on to the ice. A low-end option in deeper leagues when healthy, Cole can continue to be stashed away for the time being. (Updated 02/08/2010).

Waiver Wire: Jussi what we see?
Jussi Jokinen is quietly putting together a nice stretch, but it hasn't been enough to get him added to the Finnish Olympic team. As Michael Hurcomb writes, it shouldn't stop owners from scooping him up.

| Erik Cole was shipped off to Edmonton before the 2008-09 season in exchange for Joni Pitkanen, who ended up being his teammate after he was traded back for the final 17 games of the season. Cole had played each of his first six seasons with Carolina and really struggled in his time with Edmonton. He was reunited with Eric Staal after coming back to Carolina and put up 15 points in his final 16 games with two goals and 13 assists. In 63 games with Edmonton, Cole put up only 27 points with 16 goals and 11 assists. Cole’s numbers will likely return to those he put up with the Hurricanes between 2005-2008 with somewhere between 50 to 60 points, 25-30 goals and 25-30 assists. Cole and Staal really clicked toward the end of last season and hopefully that magic will carry over to the 2009-10 campaign. Think of Cole as a No. 5 or 6 LW option on Draft Day. (Updated 8/18/09) |
