Tomas Kaberle represents a third onerous contract on the roster, joining Rene Bourque and Scott Gomez as veterans underperforming vis-a-vis their salaries. Kaberle did have a decent offensive run with the Canadiens, posting 22 points in 43 games after being acquired from the Hurricanes, but his defense was lacking. The Habs overall aren't a threat offensively, so Kaberle's gifts may be needed, but, any success the team experiences, will come from keeping scores low and hoping goalie Carey Price can pull out a win. Because of Kaberle's liabilities, he'll be shut out of the top two pairings. If viewed as a third-pair defenseman with some power-play ability, Kaberle may not disappoint. (Updated 8/14/12)
