While it's nice that Hnidy has already matched his career high with 12 points this season, he is a lower-pairing defenseman who only has value in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

| Shane Hnidy has landed with his fifth NHL team after signing a one-year deal with the Wild in the offseason. Hnidy, who is about to enter his ninth NHL season, has totaled 14 goals, 57 points and a plus-22 rating in 477 games with the Senators, Predators, Thrashers and most recently the Bruins. Hnidy totaled a career-high nine assists and tied a personal best with 12 points in 2008-09. He has always been a decent lower-pairing defenseman and should continue that role in 2009-10. Still, Hnidy only has Fantasy appeal in the deepest of formats. (Updated 8/17/09) |
