Fantasy Analysis
It was Marian Gaborik's first point of the Eastern Conference Finals as he entered Wednesday's game pointless in four straight games. He'll need to be much better in Game 6 if the Rangers hope to extend the series to seven games. (Updated 05/24/2012).
05/25/2012 23:04 Devils top Rangers in overtime to advance to Stanley Cup Final
Adam Henrique scored off a wild scramble in front at 1:03 into overtime and the New Jersey Devils defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 to advance to their first Stanley Cup finals since 2003.
05/24/2012 19:27 Rangers in similar 1994 situation, but won't guarantee Game 6
Eighteen years ago, Mark Messier set the stage for one of sports' most dramatic moments. On the eve of the New York Rangers' must-win Game 6 against the Devils in New Jersey in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals, Messier guaranteed his team would force a deciding contest back at Madison Square Garden.
05/23/2012 22:48 Devils escape collapse after 3-0 lead, prevail in Game 5 against Rangers
Ryan Carter snapped a tie with 4:24 left, and the New Jersey Devils posted a 5-3 victory over the New York Rangers after blowing a three-goal lead in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday.
05/18/2012 12:25 The absence of Marian Gaborik and Rangers' shrinking offense
The Rangers are doing an even better job of preventing goals in the playoffs. Marian Gaborik isn't it. So he watched most of the third period from the bench in Game 2 despite the Rangers needing to score.
Gaborik's second tour with the Rangers in 2010-11 was forgettable, as he finished with 22 goals and 26 assists in 62 games. Those would be respectable totals for your average forward, but one has to consider that this was a 38-point drop from what Gabby totaled in the previous season. Of course, not helping matters was a shoulder injury that limited the sniper on the ice for a handful of games. Provided Gabby can stay healthy, the arrival of Brad Richards should be the key factor in helping the Slovakian rebound in 2011-12. His expected union with the top playmaker should make Gaborik an early-round fantasy pick. Look for his name just after the elite forwards are off the board.
