| Fantasy Analysis |
Now that he has put the injury behind him, Montreal is hoping Spacek can start living up to his contract. He hasn't been much of an offensive force in his first year with the Habs and has lost a ton of Fantasy appeal for it. Spacek is a low-end Fantasy option until further notice. (Updated 02/04/2010).

| Money proved to be a great motivating factor for defenseman Jaroslav Spacek in 2008-09. After two sub-par seasons for the Sabres, Spacek turned up the intensity last season in a contract year and walked away with a nice three-year deal with the Canadiens in the offseason. Spacek led all Sabres defensemen with a career-high 37 assists and 45 points. He also led Buffalo blueliners with 10 multi-point outings. Spacek had 53 points in his first two seasons with the Sabres and didn't really meet all the offensive expectations until his final year with the squad. Spacek also did a decent job on the defensive end for Buffalo, finishing second on the team with 126 blocked shots last season and posting a plus-29 rating during his three-year tenure. Montreal did the best impression of Extreme NHL Makeover in the offseason and now Spacek is on a blue line with Andrei Markov, Roman Hamrlik, Paul Mara and Hal Gill. He won't need to carry the offensive effort, but Montreal is expecting big things. Spacek remains more of a No. 3 Fantasy defenseman Draft Day. (Updated 8/19/09) |
